How the daily works
The daily runs on your clock. At midnight local time the page rolls over, and everyone who plays on the same date gets the same five boards. If you and a friend both finish Tuesday’s hard daily, you beat the same puzzle, so comparing times means something.
Each board comes from the same bank as the rest of the site: generated with a uniqueness check, so it has exactly one solution, and graded by the hardest technique it forces rather than by clue count. The grading ladder is the one described in the how to play guide, so a medium daily asks for locked candidates and naked pairs, and a master daily will not fall without forcing chains. You can finish every one of them with logic alone.
Progress autosaves on every move, one slot per tier per day. Close the tab mid-solve and the board waits for you until midnight. A finished tier stays finished: reopen it and you get your solved board and your time for the rest of the day, and tomorrow it resets with the new puzzle.
Picking your tier
New to the game? Start with the easy daily. It falls to scanning and singles alone, no pencil marks needed, and the rules and beginner techniques take a few minutes to read. Regulars tend to pick the tier they can finish in one sitting and save the ceiling tier for the weekend.
The five tiers follow the same ladder as the difficulty pages. Easy and medium cover the fundamentals through locked candidates and pairs. Hard brings in hidden pairs, triples and the X-wing. Expert and master demand the named patterns: XY-wings, swordfish and forcing chains.
Tools and the clock
Everything from the difficulty pages works here. The pencil icon toggles notes, and the Auto notes button fills every legal candidate in one tap, which starts to matter from hard upward where the techniques read candidates instead of placed digits. Mistake checking defaults to flagging a wrong digit the moment it lands; the gear icon switches that to rule check, or off if you would rather learn the truth at the end.
The clock stays hidden while you solve and reports on the completion card, pausing itself whenever you leave the tab. Switch it on under the gear icon if you prefer to watch it run. Either way, daily results stay separate from the best times on the difficulty pages, so a slow, careful solve costs you nothing.

What happens if I don't finish the daily puzzle?
Your progress saves in your browser on every move, so you can leave and come back any time before midnight. Once the date changes, a new puzzle takes the slot and the unfinished one does not come back.
Can I play more than one sudoku a day?
Yes. The daily gives you five boards, one per difficulty, and the regular play pages carry thousands more with no limit. Finish today's set, then keep going on any difficulty page.
Do the daily puzzles repeat?
Not for years. Each difficulty draws from a bank of more than 2,000 verified puzzles, and the daily cycle works through every one of them before any comes back around.
Are daily sudoku puzzles harder than normal ones?
No. We grade today's easy daily on the same technique ladder as every easy puzzle on the site, and the same holds at each level. The label tells you which techniques the puzzle needs, daily or not.
